Themed Thursdays. Giving & Receiving. Pt 1.

I’m back mucking about with my monthly themes.  With the reality of what arrived in my July and August, my Monday and Thursday posts dropped off for a while there.

So, Themed Thursdays are back, and according to the blog plan, I’m playing around with the ideas of Giving & Receiving.

Now the first one is super easy, and one of my favourites.  The second one, well, I like to see other people receiving. See what I’m saying?

I love giving. I love sharing. I love being able to help other people.

It comes naturally to me, and is as easy as breathing and caring and well, sharing!

It warms me when I can give something that can help someone else.  Whether it is time, support, money, meal, babysitting, you name it, I’m keen to give where I can.

But.

My head tells me that, like with anything in life, the true energy of giving will not be served if I focus only on the giving.

I went trawling the internet for something that could represent what I was attempting to express, and I found this:

true-giving[1]

This is part of it.  That in the act of giving, there is receiving happening.

Even though Giving feels like the more honourable of the 2, the Receiving cannot be ignored.  I believe that most things in life have a dark and a light, an up and a down, a start and a finish.  Which means that Giving, in it’s complete form, needs to be balanced with Receiving.  And a focus on either one to the detriment of the other, leaves a loss.

What if, the truest and most complete way to Give, is to remember to Receive?  And not to focus on the Receiving from the Giving (which is really just giving disguised), but to look for, accept and appreciate the opportunity for the Giver to Receive from someone or somewhere else.

Where can you practice the Receiving of what is trying to be Given to you?

Why is the question at the end always a tough one? Glide through the pat all soft and gooey in your words the. Whammy, you ask me.!

I’ll have to ponder that one. Although I have been receiving heaps of late from my hubby. Amazing he is and I almost squashes it with a nag, almost.

I think I need to work on the receiving I my business life.

Thanks for a great question, yet again. And by the way you are a wonderful giver and you receive so well too xoxoxo

    Love you Sista

Sorry dear one, I missed this last night as I crawled into bed to find some warmth on a cold cold night.

Oooh I love the distinction about thinking about WHERE we might be good at giving and good at receiving, or not so good. Mmm that is a great distinction, Vanessa.

      Mmmm now I’m pondering ….
      Love you too,
